CCTU: A Benchmark for Tool Use under Complex Constraints

Solving problems through tool use under explicit constraints constitutes a highly challenging yet unavoidable scenario for large language models (LLMs), requiring capabilities such as function calling, instruction following, and self-refinement. However, progress has been hindered by the absence of dedicated evaluations. To address this, we introduce CCTU, a benchmark for evaluating LLM tool use under complex constraints. CCTU is grounded in a taxonomy of 12 constraint categories spanning four dimensions (i.e., resource, behavior, toolset, and response). The benchmark comprises 200 carefully curated and challenging test cases across diverse tool-use scenarios, each involving an average of seven constraint types and an average prompt length exceeding 4,700 tokens. To enable reliable evaluation, we develop an executable constraint validation module that performs step-level validation and enforces compliance during multi-turn interactions between models and their environments. We evaluate nine state-of-the-art LLMs in both thinking and non-thinking modes. Results indicate that when strict adherence to all constraints is required, no model achieves a task completion rate above 20%. Further analysis reveals that models violate constraints in over 50% of cases, particularly in the resource and response dimensions. Moreover, LLMs demonstrate limited capacity for self-refinement even after receiving detailed feedback on constraint violations, highlighting a critical bottleneck in the development of robust tool-use agents. ForeSpeed: A real-world video dataset of CCTV cameras with different settings for vehicle speed estimation

The need to estimate the speed of road vehicles has become increasingly important in the field of video forensics, particularly with the widespread deployment of CCTV cameras worldwide. Despite the development of various approaches, the accuracy of forensic speed estimation from real-world footage remains highly dependent on several factors, including camera specifications, acquisition methods, spatial and temporal resolution, compression methods, and scene perspective, which can significantly influence performance. In this paper, we introduce ForeSpeed, a comprehensive dataset designed to support the evaluation of speed estimation techniques in real-world scenarios using CCTV footage. The dataset includes recordings of a vehicle traveling at known speeds, captured by three digital and three analog cameras from two distinct perspectives. Real-world road metrics are provided to enable the restoration of the scene geometry. Videos were stored with multiple compression factors and settings, to simulate real world scenarios in which export procedures are not always performed according to forensic standards. Overall, ForeSpeed, includes a collection of 322 videos. As a case study, we employed the ForeSpeed dataset to benchmark a speed estimation algorithm available in a commercial product (Amped FIVE). Results demonstrate that while the method reliably estimates average speed across various conditions, its uncertainty range significantly increases when the scene involves strong perspective distortion. The ForeSpeed dataset is publicly available to the forensic community, with the aim of facilitating the evaluation of current methodologies and inspiring the development of new, robust solutions tailored to collision investigation and forensic incident analysis.

BMD-45: A Large-Scale CCTV Vehicle Detection Dataset for Urban Traffic in Developing Cities

Robust vehicle detection from fixed CCTV cameras is critical for Intelligent Transportation Systems. Yet existing benchmarks predominantly feature relatively homogeneous, highly organized traffic patterns captured from ego-centric driving perspectives or controlled aerial views. This regional and sensor view bias creates a significant gap. Models trained on datasets such as UA-DETRAC and COCO struggle to generalize to the dense, heterogeneous, disorganized traffic conditions observed in rapidly developing urban centers in emerging economies. To address this limitation, we introduce BMD-45, a large-scale dataset comprising 480K bounding boxes annotated over 45K images captured from over 3.6K operational Safe City CCTV cameras. BMD-45 contains 14 fine-grained vehicle categories, including region-specific modes such as auto-rickshaws and tempo travellers, which are not present in existing benchmarks. The dataset captures real-world deployment challenges, including extreme viewpoint variation, occlusion, and vehicle density . We establish comprehensive baselines using state-of-the-art detectors and reveal a striking domain gap: models fine-tuned on UA-DETRAC achieve only 33.6% mAP@0.50:0.95, compared to 83.8% when trained in-domain on BMD-45, representing a 2.5x improvement that persists even when accounting for novel vehicle classes. This performance gap underscores the critical need for geographically diverse traffic benchmarks and establishes BMD-45 as a baseline for developing robust perception systems in underrepresented urban environments worldwide.
